Le tre opere riguardano il periodo del Terrore. La “Mort de Robespierre” è una preziosa fonte storica, ricchissima di note: Quérard, che riporta la seconda edizione del 1802, segnala che quest’opera contiene particolari sconosciuti, relativi alle giornate di settembre e al regime interno delle prigioni; alla fine della tragedia ci sono quattordici interessanti Dialoghi fra i più celebri personaggi della rivoluzione, noti per le loro virtù o per i loro crimini.L’Histoire è un esempio classico di propaganda giacobina: essa traccia la vicenda umana e politica di due protagonisti della rivoluzione, entrambi vittime del Terrore, Louis- Pierre Manuel, 1751-1793, e Jèrome Petion, 1753-1794. Nel Catalogo della Biblioteca Nazionale di Parigi sono riportati luogo di stampa ed editore ma non la data: l’abbiamo desunta dal fatto che l’ultima nota della prima parte annuncia l’arresto di Manuel, avvenuto nel 1793, mentre la seconda parte p stata scritta mentre Petion era alla macchia, fra il 1793 e il 1794. Nelle due tavole fuori testo i ritratti incisi in rame dei due protagonisti.La terza opera è anch’essa un tipico esempio di propaganda giacobina. È dipinta a fosche tinte la vita di Louis Philippe Joseph di Borbone, 1747-1793, controversa figura della scena rivoluzionaria: difese il Terzo Stato nell’89; amico di Danton, popolarissimo a Parigi, rinunciò a tutte le prerogative di principe di sangue e assunse il nome di Philippe-Égalité nel 1792; alla Convenzione votò per la morte di Luigi XVI e fu poi nominato ammiraglio della flotta repubblicana. Reso però sospetto per il tradimento di Dumouriez e per la fuga del figlio il Duca di Chartres, fu arrestato, condannato a morte e ghigliottinato. Tavola fuori testo con il ritratto del principe inciso in rame.

Rare first editions. The three works concern the Reign of Terror in France. The "Mort de Robespierre" is a valuable historical source, full of notes: Quérard, which brings the second edition of 1802, noted that this work contains unknown details, relating to the days of September and the internal regime of the prisons; at the end of the tragedy there are fourteen interesting Dialogues of the most famous characters of the revolution, known for their virtues or their crimes.
L'Histoire is a classic example of Jacobin propaganda: it traces the human and the two protagonists of the revolution policy, both victims of the Terror, Louis-Pierre Manuel, 1751-1793, and Jerome Petion, 1753-1794. In the catalog of the National Library in Paris are given place of publication and publisher but not the date: we gauged from the fact that the last note of the first part announces the arrest of Manuel, which occurred in 1793, while the second part was p Petion was written while in hiding, between 1793 and 1794. in the two page plates engraved portraits of the two protagonists copper.
The third work is also a typical example of Jacobin propaganda. It is painted in dark colors the life of Louis Philippe Joseph de Bourbon, 1747-1793, the controversial figure of the revolutionary scene defended the Third Estate; a friend of Danton, hugely popular in Paris, gave up all the blood Prince prerogatives and took the name of Philippe-Egalite in 1792; the Convention voted for the death of Louis XVI and was later appointed admiral of the republican fleet. however, made suspicious by the betrayal of Dumouriez and his son escape the Duc de Chartres, he was arrested, sentenced to death and executed by guillotine.
