Ultima e più completa edizione del Traité de Géodesie, apparso originariamente nel 1805-7 cfr. numero precedente), e qui largamente aggiornato sulla base delle nuove ricerche fisico-astronomiche di Laplace a cui il Puissant rende doveroso omaggio), nonché di Delambre, Legendre e Poison, che posero su nuove basi la scienza e la strumentazione geodetica e la professione dell’Ingénieur-Géographe, e l’aggiunta di tutte le nuove triangolazioni che portarono a riformulare anche la cartografia della Francia, con riferimento al parallelo di Strassbourg. L’autore riportò qui tutti i dovuti aggiornamenti, già da lui espressi nei cicli di lezioni presso il Depôt de la Guerre; e questa fu l’ultima fatica di Puissant, mancato poi nel 1844.

Last and most complete edition of the Traité de Géodesie, originally appeared in 1805-7 cf. previous issue), and here is largely updated on the basis of the new physical-astronomical research of Laplace, to which the Puissant makes a homage), as well as Delambre, Legendre and Poison, which set new geodetic science and instrumentation and the profession of 'Ingénieur-Géographe, and the addition of all the new triangulations that led to reformulate also the cartography of France, with reference to the parallel of Strassbourg. The author reported here all the due updates, already expressed by him in the cycles of lessons at the Depôt de la Guerre; and this was Puissant's last effort, which he later failed in 1844.
