Description
Large early French silk embroidery depicting a scene with people outside a country French pub. It has a border on the base entitled "GUINGUTTE FLAMANDE" - Entire scene is embroidered including the sky. It is after a 17th century Flemish painter, David Teniers II (1610 - 1690) and a print of the same scene is currently in the Harvard Art Museum. Bright, vivid colors, several loose threads but fine overall condition. 18.5" x 21.5". Provenance: From a private Kingston NY collection originally purchased in France.
