A extraordinary French museum quality fine skillfully hand done raised metallic thread ribbon work flowers, very fine chenillework and lavish lovely French knot embroidery and paint stroke accents to the leaves and flowers.

Featuring a lovely basket of flower bouquets. This is a original 3 dimensional French Victorian antique textile designed to be a photo frame. Cream colored silk background with decorative black verre eglomise mat on glass.

Recently deaccessioned from the Rochester Historical Society in New York State.

This is a beautiful metallic mesh metal thread ribbon work piece displaying abundant and exceptionally fine and varied stitchery along with a complicated, highly detailed design.

The metallic mesh ribbon still retains it's luster shine in places.

There is fine chenille work in the flower stems and formation of the basket, as well as the grass blades below the basket.

If you look closely you will see the fine brush strokes of paint to enhance the color of the flowers.

Sight measurements of ribbonwork 6” x 6”.

CONDITION
In very good antique condition. Original wavy glass, frame and backing are not original. A few small rubs on frame edge. 4 tiny holes in silk as seen in photos. There is a vertical streak of paint aging on glass on the right side of ribbonwork.

The photography of these photos was a challenge through glass. There may be distortion from reflection.
