An amazing treasure is from the Victorian era estate
This antique Manton / Canton piano shawl is covered with colorful, finely embroidered florals against a sage green background. Its extra wide, hand-knotted border and long fringe are a creamy peach pink. Hand embroidered high-relief. It took many people many hours to complete this piece. These were often used for weddings, shawls, and evening wraps or piano shawl decor in the home to exhibit their beauty and the status of their owner. The edges are finished with long, sweeping, dramatic, fringe that would sway with the captivating movements of a flamenco dancer -such a dramatic image!

SIZE: The solid, embroidered center of the shawl measures about 51x51 " - the hand knotted border section adds another 4" all around, finished with a luxurious 10" of long, fringe.

CONDITION: Excellent with the exception of a few spots that I have not tried to clean - . All embroidery, knotting and fringe are present, sound and in perfect condition. There are no holes, snags, odors other other issues to note and it comes from a smoke free environment after being stored for many years
