Description
Large early French silk embroidery depicting a pastoral scene with trees, farmhouse, young lady with sheep - panel attached to a separate piece of silk to provide a border - bottom border has water color title that is faded - bottom right corner is signed and faded but possibly reading Josephine Collins 1829. Note that the panel itself has an 1/8" sewn border around the edge and it has come loose from the panel along the left and bottom margins - there is some hardly noticeable foxing in the water color sky. Mounted in its original gold leaf frame. The panel itself measures 12.75" x 18.5". Provenance: From a private Kingston NY collection originally purchased in France.
