Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, United States or Canada, Tlingit or Haida people, ca. late 19th to mid-20th century CE. A hand carved walrus ivory amulet and pendant, both shaped as stylized zoomorphic beings. The amulet is in the form of a fish, perhaps an eel or sturgeon, with an elongated spine and large head with eyes and tail inlaid with nacre. The pendant features a raven with a suspension hole in the top and a human or frog face underneath the wings. The eyes of both animals and wings are also inlaid with shimmering nacre. Size (fish amulet): 3.675" L x 1" W (9.3 cm x 2.5 cm); (raven pendant): 2.125" L x 1.25" W (5.4 cm x 3.2 cm)

This is an ESA antique exempt piece of ivory and cannot be sold internationally or to anyone residing in the states of California, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington. We guarantee that the piece was made prior to 1972.
