Bernard Malamud (1914-1986) was an American novelist and one of the best-known Jewish authors of the 20th century. Two of his most famous works are "The Natural" and "The Fixer", which were both adapted into films. His third published book "A New Life" was a semi-autobiographical novel set on a university campus, and although it is one of his lesser-known novels, critics have often regarded it as one of his funniest books.
