Scarce view of the massive hotel on Market Street in San Francisco, built in 1877, destroyed by fire in 1898. Shows hotel, streets, street railroads, carriages and pedestrians. "J. A. Remer, Architect" -- lower left corner. T.J. Pettit & Co., S.F. in the plate. "Issued Gratis with the Christmas Number of San Francisco Newsletter and California Advertiser" in lower right margin. No examples in OCLC, but we did find one in the Library of Congress, though in damaged condition.
