Description
Part of an old Yoruba Engungun masquerade costume, four long panels of beadwork sewn to layers of cloth. Rich colored beads densely sewn in abstract patterns, the tops of the panels joined by leather. These heavy beaded panels would fly out as the Engungun dancer spins. Appears to have authentic age and use. Approx. 31" x 34" when laid flat.Provenance: Estate of Cayce Odom of Charlottesville, VA.
