Antique Vintage Color Etching Leon Pescheret Charleston, South Carolina, SLR in pencil, Titled lower left "Charleston Gates, S.C.". Not examined out of frame. 14 3/4 x 11 1/4 sight, 23 x 19 framed

Leon Rene Pescheret was a celebrated practitioner of color etching in America. He is known for views as varied as Chicago industrial scenes and cabins in the Great Smoky Mountains. He was born in Chiswick, England. He studied at the Royal College of Engraving in Kensington, England; Battersea Polytechnic in London; the Art Institute of Chicago; and in Belgium. He was a pupil of Malcolm Osborne and Roger Hebbelinck.

He was a member of the Palette and Chisel Club, Chicago Society of Etchers, American Color Print Society, Society of American Printmakers and the Printmaker's Society of California.

His work is in the collections of the Library of Congress, the British Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago and the New York Public Library.
