Description
(1892 – 1971) German general who served in the Wehrmacht during World War II, most notable for commanding the 716th Infantry Division during the D-Day landings. When the invasion took place on June 6, 1944, Richter's troops fought against Canadians and British who had landed on the invasion beach Juno Beach in France. By June 15, 1944, Richter's division had lost sixty percent of its soldiers. A.L.S. on both sides of his 12mo. correspondence card, Rendsburg, July 26, 1963 in German, in part: '...Unfortunately, I can't send you a picture if I don't have one anymore. In 1951 our house burned...it's a shame...' Very good.
