South Asia, India, ca. 19th and 20th century CE. A lovely pair of brass dancing female figures on integral plinths, each presenting an hourglass body and bare chest, all heavily adorned in a sarong, bangles, armbands, earrings, and necklaces as they lean to one side and hold one hand up and the other down. First, the more petite figure is from the 19th century. Capped by a large bun and pointed halo, the grooving lady is depicted with her hair in a bun, while a vine-like flower grows up her left arm. Alternatively, the taller figure was made in the 20th century and is crowned by an elaborate headdress and flaming ushnisha. Size of largest: 4.3" W x 12" H (10.9 cm x 30.5 cm)

Repairs to largest with restoration over break lines. Restoration to hand of more petite figure. Both have expected nicks, chips, and abrasions. Otherwise, both are very nice with great patina.
