Chinese Ming Dynasty Xuande Year Blue and White Flower Porcelain Jar. Potted with a cylindrical straight vessel, short neck, flaring round mouth lip with official helmet dome lid finial bud, raised on ring foot base slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white base color which contrast against blue fine color, depicted of lotus blooms interspersed foliage, scrolling interlocking tendril and scrolling ruyi. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the under glaze greyish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design.On The Shoulder bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within blue ring lines. Made in The Years Xuande Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
