**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Guatemala, Peten Region, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A fine set of 2 hand-built pottery bowls of squat yet functional forms. Each bowl exhibits a flat base, flared walls, and thick rims around the central basins. The first bowl features bands of red and orange pigment within the basin and a register of thick frets and small black spots - perhaps indicative of cacao seeds - on the exterior. The larger bowl is decorated with a netted motif along the exterior as a register of repeating red and black 'eyes' within the basin walls. Size of largest: 5.25" W x 1.9" H (13.3 cm x 4.8 cm)

Both vessels have minor abrasions, very light fading to pigment, and light encrustations in scattered areas, otherwise intact and very good. Larger bowl has one small spall on bottom. Great preservation to pigments throughout.
