Description
You will be hard pressed to find another Civil War Smith and Wesson earlier than this one. This number two army model bears serial number 138 on bottom strap and back face of barrel. The cylinder has the proper and appropriate batch number. That would tell me it was made on the first or second or third day of production. It has the very early two pin frame which was quickly improved by Smith and Wesson to a three pin design early in production. It is the lowest serial number I have personally owned. In addition, it also bears the very desirable dealer stamping of Benjamin Kittredge of Cincinnati. Overall very good approaching fine condition. 100% original 100% complete mechanically perfect, generous traces of blue finish in protected areas. All markings are crisp and legible the grips are near new.
