A fabulous leather-bound book entitled "Histoire Des Croisades pour la Deliverance de la Terre Sainte" or "The History of the Crusades for the Deliverance of the Holy Land," written by the renowned historian and writer Louis Maimbourg (1610 to 1686), a Jesuit from Nancy who was later expelled from the Society of Jesus by Pope Innocent XI yet rewarded by King Louis XIV with a residence at the Abbey of Saint Victor in Paris. Published in Paris by the widow of Sebastien Mabre-Cramoisy in 1687, this 4th edition of the 3rd volume - of 4 total - details the happening of the Crusades in the years 1195 to 1220 in Early Modern French printed on over 300 laid-paper pages. The cover page features a print of Sebastien Mabre-Cramoisy's coat of arms - a pair of storks flying in a tondo - while several decorative banners of illustration are also scattered throughout the piece. Gold decoration embellishes the cover, while a green fabric bookmark is attached to the spine. Size: 4" L x 1.9" W x 6.6" H (10.2 cm x 4.8 cm x 16.8 cm)
