A remarkable codex with the translated title of "The wonders of the other world: containing the horrible torments of Hell, the admirable joys of Heaven, with the means of avoiding one and acquiring the other: divided into three books, collected from the Holy Scriptures, and Doctors of the Church" by Francois Arnoulx, Canon in the Catholic Church of Riez. Published in 1650 by Arnaud Colomiez in Toulouse, the fascinating book is comprised of over 400 laid-paper pages of black and white printed Early Modern French and bound in leather. A few engraved illustrations can also be found throughout the codex, such as images of the Crucifixion on the title page of each of the 3 parts and a lovely banner of floral and avian motifs on the first page of the introduction.
