Southeast Asia, Cambodia, ca. 19th century CE. A fabulous brass statue of the sacred Buddha depicted standing with both arms outstretched and hands open and pointing upward to display the Abhaya Mudra - the gesture of protection and fearlessness. Enveloped in rich layers of pale green patina, the tranquil deity stands upon straight legs, displaying a slender body draped in lavish robes with elaborate abstract and floral adornments. His serene visage features downcast eyes beneath arched brows, a broad nose, and a gently smile, all flanked by a pair of lengthy ears with sizeable decorations and a pointed diadem. Note the lustrous remains of gold pigment that sparkle throughout this remarkable figure! Size: 5" W x 16.5" H (12.7 cm x 41.9 cm); 17" H (43.2 cm) on included custom stand.
