**Originally Listed At $250**

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Jamacoaque (Jama Coaque) culture, ca. 500 CE. A hand-built pottery female figure who stands nude save for a beaded necklace and a massive, maroon-painted cap. Covered in powdery orange pigment, the figure presents atop delineated legs, holds her left arm over her womb, and holds her right arm out from her waist. Her protruding visage features almond-shaped eyes, a petite nose, slender lips, and spool-adorned ears. An intriguing example of Jamacoaque artistry! Size: 2.46" W x 5.33" H (6.2 cm x 13.5 cm)

Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966

Minor abrasions to cap, face, body, peripheries, and verso, with light fading to pigment, and softening to some finer details particularly on face, otherwise intact and very good. Nice remains of pigment and good preservation of figural form.
