Item Details

Description

This wool and cotton Pennsylvania Amish fans quilt is treadle machine pieced and hand quilted, with hand embroidered accents/hatch stitching. The quilt was made in the first quarter of the 20th century. It measures 74" X 74" and is in excellent, sturdy condition, with a couple of small, faint spots (hard to find) and no wear. The quilting is superb, with quilting around the piecework and in orange peel and cable designs quilted in the background, all at 7 stitches to the inch. The back is a wonderful polished cotton/chintz floral print, the hand stitched binding is the same brown used in the border, and the batting -- if any -- is very thin. The fan bases are navy blue, not black.
