Halberd Head with Diamond Shaped Maker's Mark c. 1680
c. 1680 Late 17th Century, Rare Blacksmith-Forged Iron "Bill" Style Halberd Head, With a Diamond-Shaped Maker's Mark and Spike, Choice Very Fine.
A rare style blacksmith forged Iron Halberd Head that measures about 12" long. The blade measuring about 7.5" with an unusual straight 2.5" spike at the side for catching saddle straps on the back portion. The Maker's mark is a diamond shape on the blade (maker unknown). Gorgeous original natural even surface deep gray patina. This specimen being of a most unusual design of a Continental style that projects a very intimidating and scary appearance for such a heavy forged piece. Nice for display with any early military weapon collection.
