Edged Weapons
c. 1680 Blacksmith-Forged Iron "Bill" Style Halberd Head
c. 1680 to Late 17th Century, Colonial to Revolutionary War Era Use, Rare Blacksmith Forged Iron "Bill" Style Halberd Head, With a Maker's Mark "L" and Catch Spike, Choice Very Fine.
An excellent example of this rare early style Blacksmith-Forged Iron Halberd Head that measures about 11.75" long, its blade being about 8.25" with an unusual straight 3.25" spike at the side for catching saddle straps, on the back portion. Blacksmith Maker's-mark appears to be a "L" on the blade (maker unknown). Rich overall even original surface deep gray-brown natural patina adds eye appeal. This specimen being of a most unusual design of a Continental style that projects a very intimidating and scary appearance for such a heavy forged piece. Such attributes make this "Bill" Style Halberd Head great for display and an important addition to any early military edged weapon collection.
