1780 New Hampshire Revolutionary War Broadside Raising the States Soldier Battalion Quotas for General Washington
June 27th, 1781-Dated Revolutionary War Period, Exceedingly Rare Printed Official Broadside, "State of New Hampshire... AN ACT... for Raising and filling up this State's Quota of the Continental Army" (Exeter, New Hampshire), Framed, Very Fine.
An extremely rare Revolutionary War Broadside, locating the Only Other Sole Copy Known being housed in the collection of the New York Public Library. This historic Revolutionary War New Hampshire Broadside measures 13" x 8.25" (by sight), handsomely framed to 21.5"x 17.5" for display. Signed in its printed text by "John Langdon, Speaker" of the House and "M. Weare, President" of New Hampshire. This Broadside is boldly typeset printed in deep black on laid period paper. Some expert conservation at the upper right margin and header, all printed text is very clear and easily readable. Professionally matted and framed under UV Protective Plexiglas to current archival standards for display. This Broadside states many New Hampshire officers and soldiers are needed to fill the State's quotas for Continental Army service. Enlisted persons to serve for Three Year terms. This important Broadside also reads how, in part:
"... Shall forthwith proceed to hire as many Soldiers to Serve until the last Day of December next as shall be found wanting as aforesaid in their respective Regiments; and the Wages and Depreciation shall be allowed and paid the Soldiers engaged aforesaid, as is allowed and paid those who are now Serving in the Regiments to which they shall be joined. And each and every Town delinquent as aforesaid, Shall be obliged to pay all Costs and Charges of hiring the Number of Men of which they are respectively delinquent, and also five sixth Parts of the Fine or Penalty incurred by said former Act."
