**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Jamacoaque (Jama Coaque) culture, ca. 500 CE. A hollow-built pottery seated figure with both sinuous arms placed atop the crossed legs. Presented in buffware hues, the stylized figure leans forward and displays a tall, ovoid pendant just beneath the neck. The slightly bowed head features protruding eyes, a prominent, ring-adorned nose, a smirking mouth, and annular earspools, all beneath a crested cap with flared ear flaps. Size: 4.5" W x 6.8" H (11.4 cm x 17.3 cm)

Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex-private lifetime collection of Dr. Saul Tuttman and Dr. Gregory Siskind, New York, New York, USA, acquired in the 1980s

Possible repair and restoration to arms, but expertly done and nearly impossible if so. Stable hairline fissures atop head and beneath shoulders. Minor abrasions and char marks. Nice preservation to overall figural form. Old inventory label beneath base.
