(1912 – 2004) American lawyer and law professor who served as U.S. Solicitor General under President John F. Kennedy and later as a special prosecutor during the Watergate scandal. Fired by Nixon in the 'Saturday Night Massacre'. Fine content A.L.S. on his personal letterhead, 2pp. 4to., Aug. 19, 2002. In part: '[Nixon's suggested] summary of the subpoenaed tapes was unsatisfactory for a number of reasons...[it] would not be admissible in evidence before a grand jury or court...There was no assurance that the summary would be accurate. Also, the condition, that that we agree not to seek other papers or tapes. was unacceptable. I was dismissed for rejecting the proposal...' Near fine.
