Description
Two Chinese Cizhou glazed jars dating from the Ming dynasty or earlier. Both feature brown decoration on a cream-colored body. The first jar has linear decoration throughout. The second jar has only two linear motifs on either side of its body framed by bands of decoration around the mouth and foot.
Dimensions are: the larger jar measures 8 1/2 inches tall X 8 inches wide, 21.6 cm X 20.3 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: The first jar has a crack to the rim and a crack to the upper shoulder, as well as significant, widespread areas of repair. The second jar has a large chip to the bottom and possible areas of overpainting. A reminder that all lots are sold as-is.
