1880's President's Wreath Quilt, Vine Border

Item Details

Description

This cotton 1880's president's wreath quilt is hand appliqued and hand quilted, with 6" cutouts in the two bottom corners (this was likely made for a poster bed). It measures 80" X 94" and is in excellent condition, with a couple of small, faint spots and no wear. There are straight line designs quilted throughout at 6-7 stitches to the inch. The back and treadle machine stitched binding are the same antique white used in the interior, and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light, and two slightly different green calicos were used throughout.
