Vintage Real Photo Postcard of the Condon Bank, Scene of the Dalton Gang's Coffeyville Raid. Owned by the Photographer
This postcard (RPPC), 5.5" x 3.5", features a photograph of the front of the Condon Bank, which was raided and robbed by the Dalton Gang in 1892. From the archives of famous Old West photographer John Tackett. Likely from the first half of the 20th century.
John Tackett owned a photography studio in Coffeyville, where Tackett would capture the famous images of the Dalton Gang after the Coffeyville raid. Tackett would also go onto collaborate with Emmett Dalton in order to write, film, produce and distribute a movie about the raid.
On October 5, 1892, the famous Dalton Gang attempted the daring daylight robbery of two Coffeyville, Kansas, banks at the same time, including the Condon Bank. Other than Emmett Dalton, who was shot 23 times, the entire gang was killed by quick-acting townspeople.
