A silver covered tankard Philip Syng, Jr. (1703-1789), Philadelphia, PA, circa 1750

Tapered body with molded upper and lower rims, with domed lid having a scrolled thumbpiece, scrolled handle engraved with monogram "WMH," marked three times to body near rim, underside with old engraved weight, "32 oz = 5 1/2 dwt."

Condition
nice overall condition; thumbpiece with noted repair midway; body with some dings and minor surface scratching commensurate with age and use; mild rubbing to front and handle; old period scratch weight underside; bottom edge of molding with slight dent, near front of body; lid with knick to edge and slight ding along edge of domed top; very shallow dent near W on monogram on handle; evidence of silver solder to underside along rim; some minor roughness to bottom of handle end
