Description

For your consideration is an exceptionally rare authentic blank certificate of appreciation from the American Committee on the Statue of Liberty. This certificate was to be filled out and sent to donors who helped fund the building of the base to support Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi's iconic Statue of Liberty - America's symbol of freedom to all. This is an authentic engraved certificate manufactured by the "American Banknote Co. New York" and copyrighted "1883". There is an example of this certificate in the Statue of Liberty National Monument Museum Exhibit and these rarely come to auction as they are no doubt treasured family possessions. There are (8) signatures on the certificate. The engraved image measures 13.5"(h) x 10"(w) while the plate impression measurement is 16 1/4"(h) x 13 1/4"(w). Offering is framed and matted. Frame measurement is 26 3/4"(h) x 23 1/4". Framed, this offering weighs 7 pounds, 12 ounces. Will consider shipping without frame.
