West Mexico, Guanajuato Valley, Ca 300 BC. Beautiful pottery olla from the enigmatic Chupicuaro culture. Producing some of the finest pottery of the New World, the Chupicuaro used vibrant patterns and unusual shapes. This tri-lobed bowl is decorated in a three diamond pattern in red, buff and black with 2 sets of suspensions holes so it could be hung using ancient cord. 6-3/4" across x 4"H.

PROVENANCE: Ex Canadian collection acquired before 1970.

Condition:

Intact and excellent with a few surface scuffs and deposits.
