Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Guanajuato River Valley, Chupicuaro, ca. 300 to 100 BCE. A handsome hand-built round-bottomed olla with a voluminous rounded body, a short neck rising to a dramatically flaring rim, and twin handles joining rim to shoulder. The walls are decorated with a mesmerizing program of stylized geometric motifs in a bichrome red and cream color scheme. An attractive piece from the Chipicuaro that is in excellent condition. Size: 7.875" in diameter x 6.125" H (20 cm x 15.6 cm)
