Two Medals, a Seal and an Enamel Spoon Relating to Pope Pius IX, comprising a 1 1/8 in. circular bronze medal with ribbon suspension, the front with the Arms of the Holy See within a laurel wreath and inscription 'Sedes Apostolica Romana', the back inscribed 'Pius IX Pont. Max Romae Restitvtvs Catholicism Armis Collatis An MDCCCXLIX' , the metal was created by Pope Pius IX to reward the 9,000 French troops under General Oudinot who restored Rome to him in 1849 (the medal with wear and minor dents and scratches to metal and the ribbon worn and stained); a commemorative 2 5/8 in. metal coin inscribed 'Concile Oecumenique, 1869' depicting the First Vatican Council convoked by Pope Pius IX on the face, and a depiction of Pope Pius IX surrounded by catholic imagery on the verso (light wear and scratches particularly to edges); a silver and enamel teaspoon with painted portrait of Pope Pius IX on the bowl, stamped '800' on back of handle (0.505 troy ounces, with some light wear); and a wood handled wax seal (light wear, particularly to edges of metal seal).Measurements: Height: length of spoon 5 1/4 in. x Width: diameter of coin 2 5/8 in.
