Description
A large Japanese Sumida pottery vase depicting anthropomorphic animals and people walking on the edge of a cliff path. The group of animals includes cats, monkeys, frogs, rats, dogs, and humans all dressed in robes and carrying various objects.
Dimensions are: 20 1/2 inches tall X 12 inches wide, 52.07 cm X 30.48 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There are small chips to areas of the animals including the ear of a cat and monkey, the tail of a dog, chips to the mountains, a frog has been repaired, and crazing throughout. There is a star crack to the bottom of the vase.
Provenance: From a private CT collection.
