Description
**Originally Listed At $600**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery female figure seated upon folded legs. The highly-burnished figure wears a knee-length skirt, displays a nude upper body with hemispherical breasts, holds her left arm to her thigh, and extends her right arm out in an expressive manner as if telling an engaging story. Her enlarged head presents a visage defined by a prominent aquiline nose, rounded cheeks, thick lips surrounding a row of integral, delineated teeth, a masculine mandible, tab-shaped ears, and a tall forehead topped with a simple cap. The entire figure is enrobed in thick white pigment that imbues her with a characteristic appearance of ancient Jalisco artistry! Size: 6.4" W x 9" H (16.3 cm x 22.9 cm).

Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection; ex-private T. Misenhimer collection, Beverly Hills, California, USA, collected from 1970-2008
