Description
Abraham Lincoln: Three Strands of Hair. These strands were given to Caroline Wright, the wife of Joseph A. Wright, governor of Indiana, by Lincoln himself. Mrs. Wright collected hair from 19th century political figures and this was given as a token of friendship between the two families shortly after Lincoln's 1865 inauguration. The hair remained in the possession of the family until it was auctioned by Christie's in 1992 and again as part of the Forbes Collection in 2002. Matted with a portrait of the president to an overall size of 8" x 10"
