[MINING]. A group of early photographs and ephemera related to mining in the western United States, Canada, and Alaska, comprising:  KINSEY, photographer. Eureka. [Alaska?]: Kinsey, 1900. 8 x 6 in. silver gelatin photograph. Photographer's imprint and title in negative. -- White Mining Co. Picher, OK: N.p., 1922. 7 1/8 x 5 in. silver gelatin photograph on cardstock mount (small spots of oxidation, loss to left edge; large loss to mount). Title in negative. Period inscription to verso identifies the 3 miners. -- Old Homestead Mining Co. [New Mexico?]: N.p., [ca 1890s]. 9 7/8 x 7 3/4 in. silver gelatin photograph on cardstock mount with mat (light scratch, clear stain; chips to mount and mat). A group of 11 men stand beneath a derrick and several buildings, one with a sign reading "Old Homestead Mining Co." A mine of this name was located in the Jicarilla District of New Mexico. -- Washing Gold. Vancouver, British Columbia. N.p.: N.p., n.d. 9 1/8 x 7 in. silver gelatin photograph on cardstock mount (light scratches; chipping to mount). Printed title to mount recto. Verso with printed essay. -- And 27 other silver gelatin photographs, cyanotypes, albumens, and stereoviews showing mining, dredging, miners, mining towns, and equipment. [With:] HURLEY, Thomas Jefferson (1850-1917), compiler. Famous Gold Nuggets of the World. [New York?]: N.p., 1900. 12mo. Photographic frontispiece, illustrations of nuggets. (Minor toning.) Publisher's original brown cloth gilt (upper hinge broken, light spotting to cloth). FIRST EDITION of Hurley's survey of impressive gold discoveries dedicated to prospectors. RARE: OCLC locates only 1 copy, with online records indicating only 1 copy ever sold at auction. [Also with:] North Butte Mining Company printed stock certificate.
