Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok (Sawankalok, Si Satchanalai) culture, ca. 15th century CE. A sizable example of a wheel-thrown grayware pottery vessel with a circular foot, an inverted piriform body, a rounded shoulder, and a flared, everted rim atop a squat neck. Surrounding the shoulder is a repeating register of incised X-form motifs, a densely crosshatched panel with drooping points, and a quartet of perforated suspension lugs. The overall form of the rim suggests that it accommodated a lid at one time, so this was perhaps used as a storage container. Size: 12.3" Diameter x 15.125" H (31.2 cm x 38.4 cm)

Chips, nicks, and abrasions to foot, body, and rim, with softening to some incised decorations, and light encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Incised motifs are still visible, and light earthen deposits throughout.
