Description
This lot consists of a unframed oil painting on canvas, rendered in the modern style of Fauvist painter Henri Matisse (French, 1869-1954). "Henri Matisse" is inscribed at lower right corner. Image depicts an interior still life scene. A placid wash of muted colors that surround a white vase of golden sunflowers. This stunningly elegant piece is a perfect example of the understated style for which Matisse was so well known. Overall framed dimensions approximately 21" x 17".
Henri Matisse (French, 1869 - 1954) was an artist known for both his fluid use of colour and his original draughtsmanship. He was an illustrator, printmaker, and sculptor, but is known primarily as a painter.
