This lot consists of a framed oil painting on canvas, done in the abstract expressionist style of Liao Chi-chun (Taiwanese, 1902-1976). This crisp and energizing abstracted still life portrays a splash of florals, a small table, and the muted, familiar colors of a homey interior. Hand-painted inscription at lower left corner reads, "C.C. Liao" in English, as well as two characters that are illegible to this author. Overall framed dimensions approximately 32.5" x 24.5".

Liao Chi-chun (Taiwanese, 1902-1976) was a sculptor and a painter. He was a professional art educator, an active member of the art community, and traveled to the United States for one year to exhibit his works by special invitation of the U.S. Department of State.
