Description
A very fine old carved wooden flute with a highly stylized form. Such flutes were carved by the Mossi and Gurunsi as traditional musical instruments. The examples shows much handling and wear. The flute measures 13 inches and will also include a custom display stand. Provenance: Gifted by Mr. James Ludwig of San Francisco to the de Young Museum, then eventually deaccessioned.
