2nd-3rd century AD and later. A mixed group of bronze medical implements comprising: tweezers; a knife with collared handle; spoon with shallow discoid bowl, balustered stem with elliptical terminal; ligula with u-section lentoid bowl, collared stem and rounded terminal; a speculum with small semi-circular lobe and bulbous terminal; a second ligula with flat-section leaf-shaped lobe, collared stem and pointed terminal. 54 grams total, 5.2-15.7cm (2 - 6 1/4"). Property of a Surrey gentleman; acquired on the UK art market; from the collection of an EU collector living in the UK since the late 1990s; formerly acquired on the German art market. [6]
