Letter From Edward Burleson
Burleson was second in command under Stephen F. Austin and was in charge of forces that participated in taking San Antonio in the fall of 1835. He later commanded the first regiment of volunteers at the battle of San Jacinto. This March 29, 1842 letter orders troops to refrain from taking livestock from local residents.Â
