"Prepare for War" Confederate Texas recruiting broadside - (Nacogdoches, Texas May, 1861-Large folio broadside calling for volunteer for the defense of Texas)" as follow; "Prepare for War!-at a meeting held in Nacogdoches, this day, it was resolved at a general meeting of the citizens of the county beheld at the courthouse Tuesday, the 7th instant, in response to a call of the Governor for volunteers, and to provide ways and means for the defense of the country. The undersigned were appointed a committee to give notice a general attendance is expected. - James H. Starr."( A unique and unlisted Confederate recruiting broadside from Texas published just after the fall of Fort Sumpter as Texas began to prepare for the war." Starr had previously been appointed by Sam Houston and Texas was the 7th state to secede from the Union and join the Confederate States much to the dismay of Sam Houston who was pro-Union. (Confederate Broadsides from Texas are extremely rare and Confederate recruiting broadsides almost never come on the market, they are exceptionally rare and desirable.)Â
