Description
Southeast Asia, Vietnam, Anamese (sometimes Annamese), ca. 15th to 16th century CE. An adorable pottery vessel in the form of a frog with a bulbous body and nubbin legs. The frog sprawls out on his stomach, legs protruding outward from the inflated, rounded body. The center of his back supports the short, rolled lip around a petite opening. The frog's endearing face consists of the bulging eyes, upturned nostrils, and a slightly open mouth. The surface has a nice lustrous area and a dark brown glaze. Size: 7" L x 6.5" W x 4.25" H (17.8 cm x 16.5 cm x 10.8 cm)
