Item Details

Description

Southeast Asia, Vietnam, Anamese (sometimes Annamese), ca. 15th to 16th century CE. A fine pair of pottery jars, both with lovey red and green glazing, and both wheel-thrown and resting on ring feet. The larger of the two boasts a slightly indented or lobed body, and the other has a more rounded exterior; both have a broad shoulder, a squat central rim, and radiating petals encircling the mouths in red and green hues. The exterior of both jars is decorated with a foliate pattern and solid rings of red. Size of largest: 2.5" Diameter x 1.5" H (6.4 cm x 3.8 cm)

Provenance: private Lumberton, Texas, USA collection, acquired before 2010
