**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A fine pair of pottery vessels from Colima culture. The first vessel presents in the form of a wide squash that is stylistically segmented with smooth, fine vertical ribbing and a bold flaring spout. The surface was painted with lustrous black slip. Alternatively, the second vessel presents a globular body, a dramatically corseted neck, and an annular, flared rim. Boasting a shiny burnish, the ancient jar features a black horizontal band along its shoulder with a creamy orange slip covering the top area and a vibrant sienna slip on the bottom. Size of largest: 6.625" in diameter x 6.5" H (16.8 cm x 16.5 cm)
Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s

Condition
Both have minor nicks and some lightly abraded areas. Chips to rim of squash vessel. Otherwise, both are excellent with nice remaining pigments. Larger vessel is intact.
