John Gorse (1945-2020) of Charleston, SC. A business entrepreneurs, private collectors. A retired as senior vice president for legal and regulatory affairs in 1981. After retirement he focused his efforts on revitalizing the local area and philanthropy. His entrepreneurial drive continually motivated him to privately invest in real estate ventures and many other businesses. In addition to his impressive business acumen, he was a man of artistic pursuits, collecting antiques, porcelains, oriental rugs, and artwork of many different genres.

Chinese Qing Dynasty Yongzheng Blue and White Mountain Landscape Motif Porcelain Brush Pot. The Porcelain potted in brush holder shape, sturdily in cylindrical straight body, thick potted, deep curvature, round mouth rim, raised on flat round foot base. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white color which contrast against blue fine color, depicted of salubrious landscape with dense trees, peace Lishui rivers, rocky, waterfall, mountain and there is a small pavilion in the midst. Enclosed banded with repeating auspicious pattern. There is not any overlap of the outlines, its well carved, clear, subtle, and distinct.

The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue seal script characters reign mark. Made in The Years Yongzheng Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
