FEATURES

1. Marked Da Qing Qian Long Nian Zhi: 1736-1796.

The picture consists of the historical figures, bamboos, and Chinese characters.

2. The historical figures: Seven Wisemen or sages on the Bamboo-land. They are JI KANG, RUAN JI, SHAN TAO, XIANG XIU, LIU LING, WANG RONG, and RUAN XIAN.

3. The seven sages activated between CD 240-249. They used to gather together on a piece of bamboo-land in today's He Nan Province, drinking wines, singing songs, playing musical instruments, and creating poems freely.

4. The Chinese characters on the brush pot: ZHU LIN QI XIAN, REN CHEN NIAN, ZUO YU ZHU SHAN (Seven Sages on the bamboo-land, created in the year of REN CHEN).

5. The years of REN CHEN: the following recent years 1772, 1832, 1892, 1952, 2012, 2072... all belong to the year of REN CHEN in terms of the Chinese lunar calendar, each 60 years a circle.

6. The original picture and characters could be painted in the year of REN CHEN, which does not support that the brush pot was made in the year of Ren Chen. Reasons: the port was marked Qian Long Nian Zhi, then the year of REN CHEN should be 1772, because Qian Long Nian covers 1736-1796. During the years of Qian Long, only 1772 was the year of REN CHEN. However, the brush pot itself looks not as old as the one made in that year. For safe, it should be regarded as an imitation, rather than authentic or genuine one made in the year of QIAN LONG.

7. The value and prices of the brush pot were estimated in terms of an imitation.
